Recappin' {August 26-Sept 10}

The day of B Boy's surgery, friends from school brought cards, coloring book and chocolate shake by that evening. It was so kind and thoughtful!
We just hung at the house and took care of the boy the rest of the week.
He started to go downhill on Sunday. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were pretty tough.
Wednesday, I took him to school to have his yearbook picture made but then brought him back home.

C Girl picked out her school picture outfit. She is very independent and opinionated lately, more so than usual!
I sent B Boy back to school on Thursday. C had an ortho appointment. They removed her bottom expander and then added a few more brackets.

B Boy did great and made it through the entire school day!
He had to miss recess until this week and that was a little hard on him.
The kids were out of school on Friday and Monday for the holiday. They were thrilled that I wanted to clean out the playroom. Ha ha.
Saturday morning, the kids were up bright and early and excited about the Razorbacks season opener game!
The Hogs crushed UTEP and we are No. 18 in the country!
I drove to Ft. Smith to meet Jessica so that we could have a friend day! We haven't had one of these in a very long time and it was much needed! We got pedicures, had lunch and then did some shopping! So fun!!!
 We laugh so much!
Sunday morning, the whole family was back at church! B Boy is now in the same children's church group as C Girl.
Monday was Labor Day and we had a nice day at home.
We grilled yummy burgers for dinner.
B Boy finally started getting his appetite back!
I pulled out the DSLR this week.
Tuesday was the start of fall Bible study at church.
I'm doing Fight Back with Joy by Margaret Feinberg.
I was glad to get to hear from her recently and I'm reading the book that goes with this.
I know that I could definitely use some more joy in my life.
I will be looking for #joybombs!
My joybomb for Tuesday was getting to know a new lady that came to our Sunday school class.
We chatted after Bible study and she is so sweet!
Margaret Feinberg commented on my blog! What!!!

I'm so very happy to see this sweet boy back to his normal self again!
He is doing a Mad Scientist unit at Trec this semester and he is very excited about that!
Wednesday morning, I met with my mentor, Susan. We have the best time talking and discussing the book we are going through. It almost feels like a counseling session every two weeks. I love her so much!
After meeting with her, I headed to school for a PTO meeting. I'm going to be more involved at school this year, hopefully!

Wednesday night, Awana started up again at church. Again, B Boy is now in the same group as C Girl. They are both such big kids now. [tear]

Thursday morning, I had a BPTO meeting and then I rushed over to be with C Girl on her field trip to the Peel Mansion. I missed a few stations but I really enjoyed the time I did get to spend with her there! I also got to know another mom in her class. I'm trying really hard to be involved more this year and to get to know other moms better. The past couple of years I haven't done this as well. My health took such a toll on everything :-(
Learning about pioneer life.
 Racing with potatoes on spoons!
 Bobbing for apples!
The Peel Mansion is so beautiful and has so much history!!!

weekly update

It has been such a full week.

Last Tuesday night, some girls from our Sunday school class met at the home of Susan Goss to have a discussion about prayer.

On Wednesday, I had my quarterly labs to check the status of inflammation in my body. I also had them add celiac labs because I still have been experiencing a few issues.
My inflammation was dramatically down and I do not have celiac! However, I am having more trouble with lactose intolerance than I had previously thought.

It was also the last regular night of Awana for the kids! B Boy finished his 3rd book in 3 years so he will get the Sparky award! I know C Girl is getting an award too but not sure what it is called!

B Boy had a soccer game on Thursday night. His team won and had a great time!

C Girl had her first tennis lesson on Friday afternoon. It went great and she had a lot of fun!

B Boy had a baseball game that night. He got to score on his first time up to bat! So fun!

The school was also having an art auction Friday evening. C Girl's class was performing at it, so we left the boy's game a little early and headed over to that. They did a cute little performance and we "adopted" the kiddos' pet rocks.

We had a crazy storm come through on Friday night. It became stationary and hailed for 10 solid minutes! It obliterated C Girl's cabbage plant that she was growing for school :-(

On Saturday, B Boy's games were rained out so we were able to leave earlier to go to Ft. Smith to celebrate my SIL's birthday. It ended up being a beautiful day!
We had such a great time! We shopped, had dinner, and even hopped in a casino to play penny machines for a few minutes- that was definitely interesting!

Sunday was a rough day all around, but I did manage to take a few spring pictures of the kids at a local park. Sunday was also my cat, Sissy Girl's 12th birthday!!!

Yesterday, I took B Boy to the ENT to once again be evaluated for sleeping issues. He will be getting his tonsils removed this fall :-(

I had an appointment at the dentist yesterday afternoon because I chipped one of my bonded teeth last week.
C Girl making cornbread to go with our beans for dinner one night.
Sweet friends after a great time of fellowship.
I found her in bed like this when I got home from Susan's house.
lots of hail!
happy birthday Jessica!!!! Big 30!
bathroom pictures!
This boy has been eating adult meals for awhile now!!! He is growing up!
after an hour and 15 minutes in the dentist chair.
Sweet, sweet friends celebrating the soon arrival of baby Will Holden!!!
I love these kiddos. They are growing up too fast.

funny conversations

the kids had some funny conversations today that I want to remember.

Me: I saw that you are reading a book about the Beatles.
C: Yep!
B: Oh! They are awesome!!! I like that band. I don't really know their songs though. But if you were talking about "bug beetles," those are awesome too! Just not Chinese beetles- they eat your grass.

C: Some boys in 2nd grade love me.
Me: Which boys?
C: gives a few boys' names.
Me: How do you know that they love you?
C: hem haws around for a minute and says that she doesn't want to tell me.
Me: Oh, just tell me!
C: well, because they are really sweet to me!
Oh goodness.

C: I'm good at spelling and I'm phemomenal (yes, I spelled it like she said it!)!
Me: Who told you that you are phenomenal?
C: Oh, no one. I just am.
Oh, to have that much confidence...

The kids had dental cleanings today. As I was sitting there, I was just amazed that I have two kiddos that just go back and have their teeth cleaned and I sit in the waiting room.
They are just growing up so much and it makes me sad!

Put a crown on it

Have you been having a good week?

Tim has had things on both Monday and Tuesday nights this week, so things have been a little abnormal.

Yesterday, I had my usual Bible study, then I visited Mr. Overstreet, ran home to eat lunch, and then did Tuesday folders before coming home.  I made C Girl a makeup gymnastics class in the afternoon because someone me forgot about it last week!

I had some muscle trouble last night so I ended up being asleep before the State of the union address came on tv.  We always watch those, so I hated that I missed it.

This morning, I had breakfast with a couple of friends at CFA.  It is such a nice way to start the day!  They are two of the sweetest girls ever!

I just got home from the dentist where I had been for almost 2.5 hours.  I had to get a small filling in one tooth and a crown on the other one.  They asked if I wanted nitrous oxide before and during the numbing.  I didn't remember ever having it before, so I went ahead agreed to try it.  It was great at first, and I was very relaxed.  After about 10 minutes or so, I felt very claustrophobic and panicky.  I had to get that thing off my nose and NOW!  I was fine after it had worn off.  They did say that some people react to it like that.  Anyways, the dental work wasn't too bad.  They were very caring and quick.  It is very disconcerting here the drill, but that's part of it.  Make your kids take care of their mouth now, so they don't have to go through all of this stuff like I do!

I leave you with the boy reciting his AWANA memory verse:

This week, I did some things

  • I got my hair done on Monday.  I always enjoy time at the salon.  It's the only time I read People magazine!
  • Tuesday I cleaned my house all day and had a PTO meeting in the evening.
  • Wednesday I had two of my friends over for lunch.  One has a sweet 7 month old girlie.  It was so awesome to see all of them and get to visit!
  • Yesterday, I had a dental appointment.

For those of you who don't know, I got my braces off this past August after wearing them for 4.5 years.  There was space that had not totally closed up, nor was it ever going to, and I had lots of tooth wear from years of grinding and clenching.
This dentist is a new one for me after my orthodontist, so she had went over my history and I explained issues that I still had and we formed a treatment plan.
Yesterday was supposed to be a 2 hour appointment where I had some teeth restructured and "built up."  This is going to help my teeth last longer and make my bite better.
Well, the 2 hour appointment lasted almost 4 hours!  It was so hard laying there that long!
I am very happy with how it turned out though!

  • After school, I took the kids to Academy to get B Boy some things he needed for tee ball and then we went to Chuck E. Cheese for our school's spirit night.  Of course the kiddos were in heaven!  B Boy had two friends from his class there.  I LOVE watching how my kids are when they see their friends outside of school. It's SO funny and cute!
  • Today, I'm getting packed and ready for a GNO!  Ladies from our Sunday school class are meeting at a cabin to have a "Night of Nothing."  It is basically a grown up sleepover!  I'm so excited!
  • I'm also VERY excited about the weekend weather!  It's going to be SO nice today, Saturday and Sunday.  B Boy has tee ball practice on Saturday and we are also going to have to do SOMETHING outside this weekend.  I'm ready for Spring weather to stay!
Happy Weekend!!!

we went on a date!

A funny picture from the dentist appointment-
Tim and I had a date night on Friday night.
We went to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and had a very nice time!
Best calamari we have ever eaten!
I woke up Saturday not feeling well.  Tim went to the game with a friend and sold our tickets.
He said the crowd was huge.
It was very unfortunate that we lost yet again :(
I haven't felt the greatest today either.
We missed church this morning and I slept a lot today.
I feel better right now, so I'm hoping I've kicked whatever virus/bug I had.

One of my sweet nephews is having tubes put in his ears tomorrow. Say a little prayer that things go great and he starts feeling better!

I'm looking forward to a great week!
How about you?
