the weekly recap {& my thoughts on Gilmore Girls}

I can't believe we just finished up the 2nd week of January!

B Boy had begged me to eat lunch with him this week and I can't say no to this face!

 I've been busy getting my calendar filled out for the month. I have to have a visual wall calendar - I know that's so un-technological!

 I had a fun GNO on Tuesday night trying out a new restaurant downtown. It's so nice to get out with friends and have good conversation!

We had to have some work done our van this week. It was definitely an unexpected expense, but I'm so thankful for a great mechanic that is honest and quick to get us in!

This boy woke up Wednesday morning very sick. He stayed home on Wednesday and Thursday. It was so good to see him back to normal yesterday afternoon!

Tim took a couple of days off and I had several BPTO meetings yesterday and I was so thankful for his help.

He got all of our Christmas decor, tree, lights, and outside lights put away!

We had beautiful weather to get it all done and the kids were able to play outside a lot!

I finished the very last show of Gilmore Girls this week. I have watched all 7 seasons over the last two months. I have so many thoughts!

First, I LOVE how it was a story that continued from the first episode to the last.

I loved all of the characters. I did thing April, Luke's daughter was pretty weird, but they did make it work. 

I love love loved the Rory/Logan combo. I have to admit that their ending in the next to last show really depressed me. If the final show hadn't been so good, I would have way different opinions on the entire series.

I know that seems extreme, but I spent the whole time wanting Luke and Lorelai to be together. I hated it when they broke up.

I loved Paris, Lane and Sookie and basically all of the other friends!

I loved Richard and Emily.

I loved the quirkiness of Stars Hollow! Taylor and the town meetings were so funny!

I super loved the final episode. I love how much the town loves the Gilmore girls, I love how Luke loves Lorelai, and I loved how Richard told her how proud of her he was at the end. 

It just ended so sweetly!!! 

I have many more thoughts, but I will leave it at that!

the first week of the year

On New Year's day, we went downtown and watched an ice skating show at the Rink by the Arkansas Figure Skating Association. 

Tim made his creole black eyed peas, we bought the Star Wars series, and we watched bowl games!

B Boy does not let the weather deter him. Unless it's raining or almost zero outside, he wants to be playing catch with daddy.

He also made this sweet card for our mail lady for Christmas. She had been out with an injury until Monday, the 4th and she sent back a sweet reply and treat for him!

He has a precious heart and it makes me want to be better about reaching out to people.

It was tough getting back into the swing of the first week back to school and regular life. The kids had a fire alarm scare first thing Wednesday morning. I'm very thankful for friends who text a group of us from school to let us know what was going on. Everything was fine, but apparently there were a lot of police and fire personnel making sure!

We had multiple appointments the first week back, plus starting back with piano and Awana. Tim also had a board meeting.

I've been reading some good books lately.

I read Winter Garden over the New Year and it was very good!

I've been really into podcasts too and I'm debating getting Netflix so I can watch Making a Murderer. I feel like I'm the only person who hasn't seen it!

I'm afraid to get Netflix though. I need my productivity and that will definitely slow me down!

I've already lost a lot of time watching Gilmore Girls. Thank you, Adrienne for letting me borrow the entire series! I'm almost finished!

The weather has been so bitterly cold and last week was SO dreary. If I had to live where it was constantly dreary, I would go to the loony bin!

the weekly recap {June 27-July 2}

We have pretty much been continuously on-the-go for the last 2 1/2 weeks.

I'm trying to stay caught up on posting, but it's going to take a bit to get there!

Here is what we were up to since the end of June until this past Thursday.

This is actually from June 18th, but I think it is so funny that B Boy loves math so much that he works on it for fun!

We stayed with Keith, Jessica and Parker on the way back home from the beach. We love spending time with them! And I love that our kids are growing up together!

I also had one of my favorite treats- baked beans and Ruffles!

One of our favorite summer traditions is cutting up a yummy watermelon!

My Sissy Girl really missed me while we were gone- so thankful for my friend, Laurie coming to check on her!

On Monday, Tim was still on vacation so we took the kids to see Inside Out. I just loved it!!!

Afterwards, we stopped for treats. B Boy had his first Peanut Buster Parfait and loved it.

On Tuesday, we ran a bunch of errands and got groceries since we had no food!

They also had swim lessons that night. I'm so proud of how well they are swimming!

Tuesday night, Tim was honored by Celebrate Magazine as one of the 15 to watch in '15 in Northwest Arkansas! Here is a link to the magazine.

On Wednesday, Jessica and Parker came to stay with us for 5 days!!!

I love these silly kiddos!

C Girl had a momentous ortho appointment- she got braces on her bottom teeth!!!

 On Friday, we visited the Bentonville community center for the first time. I am loving this indoor water center. They kids were ecstatic about it!!!

Since this is the first summer that they are both swimming well, they have been enjoying the water so very much!

Since we were already wet, we decided to take the kids to the splash park downtown.

the weekly update

 This girl lost a tooth a week ago! It had been loose for a whiiiillle. I was so glad when it finally came out.

 This boy was student of the week this past week!

 She had fever on Monday evening, so she got to stay home with me on my birthday. I was a little sad because I had to cancel lunch plans with some friends. I did get these beautiful flowers from Tim and then C Girl and I went to get a crepe before B Boy got home from school.

 Google scares me sometimes with how much it knows!

 Wednesday night, we had a soccer tournament game. The bottom fell out of the sky right before the game started, but the game continued on. C Girl and I went to sit in the van!

 HOWEVER, if you run the fan, radio, and windshield wipers, you will kill the battery. I'm so thankful that my friend, Amber was parked beside us and had jumper cables!!!

This is the new BPTO uniform!!! Hahaha! It was hysterical that they showed up wearing the same thing and did NOT plan it!!!

Thursday night, B Boy had his 2nd soccer tournament game.

The weather was much nicer :-)

His team played their hearts out!

We ended up losing by one goal. B Boy did get to score an awesome goal though! He was thrilled!!!

On the way home, we saw something happening on the square so we decided to stop by for a few minutes. The high school chamber orchestra was performing. The weather was so nice and there were so many other families out on the square!

We have a gorgeous town square!

The preschool that B Boy attended is closing up shop at the end of this school year and he has been begging me to take him by there to visit.

I took him out of school Friday morning to run by there and say hello!

They were thrilled to see him and let him play on some of the gymnastics equipment!

It was so good to see them!!!

B Boy has such fond memories of preschool!

This past week was teacher appreciation at our school.

Friday, the teachers got to have a 2 hour lunch and parents volunteered to sub the classes during that time.

I signed up to be in C Girl's class.

It ended up going very well!

I stopped to get a crepe on the way home. I had to wait in line for quite a while, but I have become so addicted to their crepes!

C Girl has been taking tennis lessons on Friday afternoons with some friends from church. I love having that time to visit with these sweet friends! And Maegan who was out of town this Friday!

That night, we took the kids to a Parent's night out at a local church and went out to dinner with another couple. We had a really fun time!!!

We stopped by pressroom for drinks and I had the brown sugar latte with almond milk. Yummy!

Yesterday was our 12 year anniversary.

What I wrote on social media:

||||Twelve|||| I swear each year passes quicker than the last. It has been 12 really good years. Those two never would have imagined what those years had in store. We were lovestruck, barefoot because Tim packed two right shoes, and I had chopped my hair off before the wedding for some strange reason and my tiara and veil didn't want to stay put. It stormed terribly the night before our wedding and our wedding was officiated by a short, black native lady. We have so many funny stories, even from just our wedding and honeymoon. We had our first dance to "Wonderful Tonight" and he has sang it to me ever since. These type of days get me so emotional because, I don't know how I deserve this life. It's good and hard and challenging, but so very beautiful.

 Saturday morning was B Boy's soccer end of the year party. We had pizza and met at a local park. The boys had a blast. The coach had special things to say to each individual boy as he handed out their medals. We were blessed with such a great team AND coaches!

We cooked dinner and rented some movies from Redbox to round out the day. Tim and I watched Mockingjay Part 1. I love that he loves to watch movies like this with me!

Today was senior day at church. The closer we get, the harder it hits me. As I sat there during the slideshow, I was wondering what pictures and videos I might use for each kid. It was crazy to see pics of those kids at my kids' ages and then now. They change SO much and somehow become ready to leave home and be adults. It's hard to wrap your mind around when you are still trying to teach them how to wash their hair and tie their shoes. It makes you wonder who these little people are going to be and what they are going to do. I can't wait to see all of that, but I'm sure going to miss these days.

 This afternoon, we went to the Natural's game. We got to take a tour of the stadium before the game. We toured a suite, the press box, and the batting cages.

 B Boy got to meet and talk to the guy who calls the games on the radio :-)
