these December days

I know this will probably sound insane, but so far, December has been the most relaxing month of the year for me this year.
The spring was full of last year's PTO, summer is just busy, and my fall was packed with activities this year.
Sure, there are things on my calendar this month, but the day to day stuff has slowed down tremendously.
I've really needed it.  I have been able to work on tons of projects and to actually keep my house clean!  Little things like that really make me happy!

I've also decided to keep the holidays very simple this year.
We still do our normal traditions, but I'm not putting them on an advent calendar.
I just don't want any pressure to do stuff on a certain day.
I guess that's the main reason that I'm not into stuff like Elf on the shelf.
I get seriously stressed out thinking that I would have to come up with stuff for an elf to do everyday!
Don't get me wrong, I think it's a cute tradition, but I don't want to add something to our holiday memories that would add stress to me.

Last night, we stopped to drop off our letters to Santa before church!  I can't wait until they get a letter from Santa in return! They love it every year!
Tim and I went to Hobby Lobby while the kids were in church.
It is my happy place!
We found a great frame for our family picture we are hanging in the house and a few other Christmas items.

After church, we watched the end of the Christmas at Rockefeller Center special.  I LOVE when they light that tree! It's gorgeous!  We did our book for the night and they sang some carols that are included in the book.  It's so precious to hear them sing.  I love that Tim enjoys to sing and to sing with the kids <3
We are currently under a winter storm warning and school has been cancelled for the day.

I've been so let down the past couple of years by winter weather predictions.  They will go on and on for days and then we will get hardly anything!  They are saying we are supposed to get possibly 4-6 inches of snow. I'll believe it when I see it! I hope so for the kid's sake though!
We are prepared- I have stuff for ham & beans, chili, and biscuits & sausage gravy, Christmas movies, games and crafts!

I haven't even had a chance to drink my coffee and think about doing any of my plans with them yet and they have already been arguing!
Hopefully we all make it through alive, lol!
