Shrimp & Vegetable Lo Mien

We found the recipe for the lo mien sauce on a random package of noodles one time.
It was a match made in heaven.
We LOVE this meal.
It is one of our faves of ALL time.
The sauce is always the same, but we mix it up on everything else.
This time, we decided to go with shrimp and the veggies we used were broccoli, carrots and celery.
I just cut the broccoli up, chopped the celery and sliced the carrots into fine sticks.
I assembled my ingredients for the sauce (chicken stock is not shown in the picture)
I chose to use fettuccine noodles this time, you can use really whatever kind you like
You will need one pound of meat, this is one pound of shrimp
I start by sauteing the vegetables in butter until desired tenderness
Remove the vegetables from the pan and saute shrimp in butter and a few splashes of soy sauce until pink and opaque
Remove to bowl with vegetables.
Mix all sauce ingredients together and then place in skillet on medium to medium high, until slightly thickened.
While all this other stuff was cooking, you could have also been boiling your noodles
Everything should be cooked and ready by now, so mix it all together and plate it up!
Gorgeous and delicious!
Lo Mien Sauce:
1/3 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons soy sauce
(plus some splashes for cooking the shrimp)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cup chicken stock
3 tablespoons sesame oil (I LOVE this stuff!)
2 tablespoons (or more!) minced garlic
Whisk all ingredients together before putting in skillet to thicken

  1. Looks yummy!!! We are not big shrimp fans...have you tried chicken before?? Do you think it would still taste as good?
