Waxing Nostalgic Part X

It is fitting that I am writing this one around Valentine's Day.

In April, Tim and I decided that we wanted to get married.  Our first stop was to Zales.  I'll never forget that day.  He told me to pick out what I wanted and boy did I!  I love my rings so much.  I still get compliments on them.  The part I'll never forget is when he got down on one knee at Zales and asked me to marry him!  If I hadn't been so happy and if it hadn't been so sweet, I might have been mighty embarrassed!  But, it was perfect.

Our first plans were to get married in May at the country club that Tim was a member of.  We spent all week making lists and figuring out what we needed to get a wedding together in one month!  It was insane and I was definitely feeling the pressure!  Plus I was about to graduate college.  It was mighty stressful.  One night, we were sitting on the couch looking at bridal magazines and we happened to be looking in the very back where the honeymoon advertisements were.  All of the sudden, Tim said, why don't we just go somewhere and get married?  It was such an "aha" moment for both of us.  It was exactly what we both wanted.

The next day, we went and visited the travel agency.  We told them that we wanted to get married and somewhere tropical.  Her eyes instantly lit up and she asked if we had ever heard of St. Lucia.  I had actually never heard of it.  Then she showed us some photos and we were sold!  So then, we had the stress of getting everything booked and together before we left for the trip.  Thank goodness we did not need a passport for the trip!  For some reason, our birth certificates worked.  Tim was amazing.  He called and faxed and got everything together for our trip.

Tim celebrated his birthday at the beginning of May.  Saturday May, 10, 2003 I graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a degree in Hospitality Administration.  My birthday was on Monday May, 12th.  That is also the day we left for our trip.  So many huge milestones at one time!  What a joyous time!  And what a time we had in St. Lucia.....

to be continued...
