the weekly recap {July 13-19 Amazeum & summer fun}

We bought a family membership for the children's museum that opened in our town on July 15th.
It is called the Scott Family Amazeum.
We were able to take advantage of preview day before it opened.
The kids were super excited!
I loved these stairs.
This place is incredible! We only had an hour and a half to explore and we also did an experiment in the Hershey's Lab, so we only got to check about half of it.
The kids LOVED "climbing in the trees"
There are so many opportunities to create, explore and imagine.
Tim and the kids were happy to partake in a little chocolate fun.
(a little thing about me you might not know - I don't eat chocolate! gasp!)
We will definitely be back many times to see more and enjoy this fun new place!
Our windows really needed a good cleaning, so we put the kids to work. I have been doing that a lot this summer. They have been taking on a lot of new chores and doing great at it!
C Girl even made waffles for us one morning entirely by herself!
The kids having some fun in the sprinkler. It has been SO hot here lately!
I've been trying to continue doing fun things with the kids even though I have been sick so much. I took them to the city pool one day and they had the best time. I got to sit and talk with a friend, so I had a really fun time too!
I also had to drag the kiddos to the doctor a couple of times that week.
I was diagnosed with early walking pneumonia. Thankfully they prescribed some good medication!
I was so tired of coughing!

City of Bentonville 4th of July festivities

I was financially compensated for this post. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.

It is no secret how much I love my little big town, Bentonville, Arkansas.
Next month marks 5 years since we’ve lived here.
I love how much there is to do in the area and how a lot of those things are FREE!

One of our favorite things every year is the Fourth of July festivities.
The kids love participating in the annual bike parade and we all love ending the evening at Orchards Park with music and fireworks!
This year’s event features Kaylee Rutland, a 19 year old contemporary country singer/songwriter from Texas.
She developed a love for music at the age of 6. Kaylee plays keyboard and guitar. She loves writing about friends, family, faith and love.  She debuted with her first EP, Kaylee Rutland, in 2012 and a single “Into The Circle” featuring Colt Ford and Grammy-nominated, platinum-selling country star Jamie O’Neal in 2013. She released her second EP, Good Day to Get Gone, last summer.
Currently, she is working with O’Neal on a new CD tentatively set to release later this year (kayleerutland.com).
I’ve been to her YouTube channel to listen to her music and I’m very excited to hear her perform in person!

If you are local, I highly recommend attending An Evening at Orchards Park.
Kaylee, The Arkansas Winds Community Concert Band and the amazing fireworks will make the 4th extra special for your family this year!
I can't wait to spend the evening with my family, my brother, Sister in law, and my sweet nephew!

Bentonville, Arkansas - Let me show you around my town

Northwest Arkansas is a really cool part of our state.
There are so many neat places and things to do and see.
It's just a cool place to live.

I live in Bentonville and there are some really great things here.
This weekend, we got out and enjoyed some of the things that make Bentonville unique.

Friday night after dinner, we headed downtown and stopped at this little food truck that I have wanted to try for a loooong time!

This is Crepes Paulette.
From their Facebook page- Authentic, delicious French Crepes, sweet and savory, in an open-air setting.

If you want to know more about crepes, go here.

I ordered a simple lemon crepe with butter and sugar. It was divine!

The kids and Tim shared a crepe filled with Nutella. They were in heaven!
They also serve a variety of other sweet and savory crepes.  I can't wait to try a savory crepe!

Afterwards, we walked over to the square to listen to some music.
They call this Pickin' on the Square.
Lots of people had brought their lawn chairs and others were standing or sitting on benches.
The weather was perfect and we all had a great time.
Saturday morning, we visited the Bentonville Farmer's Market for the first time this season.
We purchased some great asparagus and broccoli and a jar of red plum jelly.
There are beautiful flowers, plants, jewelry, woodwork, hair accessories, bird houses, pet things, soaps, lots of produce and even baked goods.
A few food trucks are also there every week!
We also stopped by the unveiling of Artist Alley.
Bentonville Middle School and Junior High Art Student art work is featured.
This is located on Main St. just past the new French patisserie, Meridienne.
I cannot wait to try pastries from there!
This artwork captures some of the unique, awesome things that we are lucky to get to enjoy here in Bentonville.
