Weekly update - first week of June

Thank you all so much for your comments and messages that I received after my post on Privacy.

It's weird, but I actually feel more freedom now that I've set the blog to private.

I do wish that there was a way to easily let everyone know when I publish a new post. As of now, it no longer feeds to readers and when I put the link on Facebook, it shows a generic "Blogger.com" picture. Any ideas?

 I had lunch at Sushi House with my friend, Laurie, on Wednesday. It was yummy and so fun to get to visit for awhile!

I'm truly not a "lady who lunches," but I had lunch on Thursday with my dear friend, April, at Olive Garden. I think I was trying to get some friend time in before school is out!

 Thursday evening, our Sunday school class had a baby shower for Christi. She is having a sweet boy in August! We ate at Abuelo's and I am so obsessed with the green dip there. So good!

 I have failed to mention, I think, but B Boy is super into Pokemon cards! He trades with boys at school and every single day after school, he has to tell me about his new ones!

 I made sesame chicken the other night and I made the Pioneer Woman's cauliflower stir fry. I omitted the Sriracha though. So yummy!

I watched the Walmart Shareholder's meeting on Friday morning. It was VERY neat to watch. They had awesome musical performances and it was very cool to hear from CEO's in the company.

 Friday night was First Friday on our square. It was also the annual Art Walk. I love, love, love our First Fridays and farmer's market.

 We had to make a stop into the Walton's 5-10.

They always want to buy every toy in there!

They LOVE to run up and then down the ramp and stairs. I'm so glad they can be easily entertained!

 We saw this beautiful, really big Dalmation!

 We had B Boy take a photo of us with the big camera. He did a pretty decent job! It would be great if C Girl hadn't been giving me bunny ears o_o

 B Boy had a game today. He had a great hit (with his new bat!) and he had a RBI! He got one of the game balls today. He was thrilled and we are so proud of him!

We are mostly proud of how much he loves baseball and how hard he wants to work at it.

Weekly catch-up time!

My blog has become a time capsule of my life. I love the feeling I have after I post and know that those memories are somewhere that I can look back on them. It kind of clears my head out! Weird, I know, but I'm also the person who sent her husband out with the kids to the splash park for a couple of hours today so I could clean the house! They had a fantastic time and even splashed while it rained for a bit and I now have a clean house!

Earlier this week, I had lunch at Cracker Barrel with my friends April, Jen, and Jen's daugher, Lyla. We had a great time! 

Wednesday evening while I took B Boy to baseball practice, Tim and C Girl worked on our lawn mower. We bought it last year and were disappointed when it didn't start this year. They replaced the gas and cleaned the carburetor and it was good to go!

I visited the local school that I read with kiddos at on Thursday morning for the final time this school year. It's amazing to see how far they have grown with their reading!

On Thursday evening, we attended our school district's annual Technology Showcase. Every year, teachers can apply for a 21st century technology grant that the district awards to about 25 teachers each year. The teacher is awarded a classroom set of iPads for grades K-2 and a classroom set of laptops for 3-12. B Boy was in a 21C classroom during his kindergarten year. It was really neat checking out what projects that teachers and students are doing with awesome technology. There were two 3-D printers there and it was the first time I had seen one up close. If you do not know much about 3-D printing, you should check it out. They were actually printing objects during the showcase.

We were out of school Friday! We had a relaxing morning and then met up with some friends at a strawberry patch to pick strawberries!

We visited last year as well.

We picked 4 quarts and are very much enjoying eating them!

 We played Dominoes with the kids on Friday night. It's so fun now that they can play lots of games. We are past the Candyland/Chutes and ladders phase! This is one milestone that I am not sad about!

 After our lunch at Cracker Barrel where my friend April ordered pancakes, crispy pancakes were all I could think about. I made them on Friday and Saturday mornings! So good!

We saw Batman at the farmer's market on Saturday morning! B Boy loved this!

We also visited some local antique/junk stores. That is one of my favorite pastimes!

 We had a little Mexican fiesta Saturday night- I made enchiladas and homemade guacamole. Yum!

 We played Phase 10 after dinner outside on the patio!

We went to Sunday morning service for the first time in May this morning. That sounds so bad, but we have had things going on and just haven't made it on Sunday mornings. 

They showed a video during service about remembering what Memorial Day is about. Firstly, I cannot watch anything remotely patriotic without getting emotional. 

Secondly, I feel like it is my personal job to help everyone remember what Memorial Day means. It bothers me when people go on and on thanking people currently serving (nothing is wrong with this), but don't really mention those who have died in service. Those soldiers are why Memorial Day or Remembrance Day was enacted.

So many men and women have sacrificed their lives for our great nation. 

Tomorrow, just for a minute, stop and remember those who have died in the line of service.

Our Memorial Day plans changed today. We are now going to go to my parents house.

We had planned to spend the day here and just hang out, but my brother Kevin is leaving next weekend to train for his new military job and he won't be back until November. 

He is a geo-spacial imagery analyst. The 188th fighter wing, where he works, is transitioning for A-10's to drones. 

So, we grilled burgers tonight and they were good :-) I just love the start of summer!

A wrap up of our week and weekend:

We have been fighting one person or another in our family being sick the past few weeks. 

C Girl was home sick from school on Tuesday.

I finally feel like we have gotten past it. I hope!

Wednesday night was our awards night for AWANA.

Both kiddos received an award for finishing books this year!

I'm so thankful for this program and the volunteers that work with the kids week after week!

C Girl is moving up to the last level of AWANA next year (3rd-6th grade) and that makes me SO sad!

 Tim had an invitation to have breakfast at our new Cracker Barrel before it opens, but he could not go, so I invited my friend Laurie to go with me. It was so fun! There were so many "important' people from our city and from Cracker Barrel's district and corporate realm. I am SO happy that we have this restaurant in our town- it's one of my faves!

 We went to Sonic after school on Friday to celebrate Friday, everyone feeling better, and our May break!

 B Boy got his uniform at baseball practice Friday evening. He is #6 this year!

 Saturday morning, I walked in my first Race for the Cure! I was on my friend Jenn's team. I've talked about her before. She is in my Sunday school class at church and she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She is now cancer free and we are so happy! I was so honored to walk with her yesterday!

As I was driving home Saturday morning, I drove through our square and remembered that it was our first Farmer's Market of the season! I'm so glad it is back!

While I was driving through, a large group of bikers rode down the road past me. We see this scene a LOT in our town!

B Boy had his first baseball game of the season Saturday afternoon!

He is at the age of the pitching machine now.

It is quite a bit slower than tee ball was because it is more difficult for the boys to hit the ball since they are still learning batting without the tee.

It was sunny and hot and we got some slight sunburns!

C Girl has a big choir production at church this evening. We are so excited to see her perform!
