a weekly update

Last Monday evening, B Boy had a baseball game! It was a great game and the other team came back and won by one run.

On Tuesday afternoon, we had parent/teacher conferences for both of the kids. B Boy's teacher had nothing but good things to say about him. She mentioned how nice and kind he is to other students and that makes my heart soar. I'm so glad that he is doing well in school, but I am SO thankful that he is kind to others.

C Girl's conference went great as well! It was so great to be able to chat with her new teacher. We learned that she is doing well above average in math! She always has been very high in math, but we did not know that she was still doing that well! We are so proud of her! Her teacher also mentioned how well behaved and kind she was to others. We have our struggles at home, so that is so wonderful to hear about my girl!

Early spring has been slaying me this year. Our town has stunning redbuds everywhere! Those along with tulips, bradford pears, dogwoods, and forsythia!

On Wednesday, I met a sweet friend at the Wooden Spoon! It was so nice to catch up! We both got strawberry pie to go and it was amazing!!!

That afternoon, C Girl had a Myobrace checkup. She is doing great so far! She is wearing a spacer that she keeps in all the time and she is responsible for cleaning it and turning the key every night that spreads it farther apart. I'm loving seeing her be so responsible!

That night while the kids were at Awana, Tim and I went to the "Van Gogh to Rothko" exhibit at Crystal Bridges.

Van Gogh to Rothko brings together 76 artworks by 73 influential artists from the late nineteenth century to the present. The exhibition features masterpieces by some of the most prominent names in art history including Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Georgia O’Keeffe, Salvador Dalí, Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, and Mark Rothko. The works were selected from the collection of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, one of the finest collections of twentieth-century art in the country, located in Buffalo, NY.

Van Gogh to Rothko traces the story of avant-garde art from late nineteenth-century Modernism through Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art in the late 1950s and early 60s.  Beginning with works from the late 1800s, the exhibition includes stellar examples of Post-Impressionism by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Vincent van Gogh, and Paul Gauguin, which inspired artists on both sides of the Atlantic, as can be seen in later works throughout the exhibition. Van Gogh to Rothko also considers ideas that contributed to the development of art movements such as Cubism, Surrealism, Pop Art, and Minimalism. The largest grouping in the exhibition features approximately 20 mid-century American artists, many of whom identified as Abstract Expressionists, including Rothko, Willem de Kooning, and Robert Motherwell.

The exhibition marks the first time many of these works have toured in decades. Crystal Bridges is one of only four venues, besides the Albright-Knox, that will host this remarkable exhibition, offering Museum guests a rare opportunity to view paintings and sculptures by some of the most well-known and respected names in the art world.

Thursday's soccer game was canceled due to rain. AGAIN!

Friday evening was our Sunday school girls' annual "Night of Nothing!" We get together at a cabin and just eat and talk!!! It is one of my favorite things that we do! I normally stay the night, but Tim had to be at school super early on Saturday for a conference.

Tim stayed with the kids and took B Boy to his baseball game on Friday night.

B Boy did get to have a soccer game on Saturday! We spent the rest of the day relaxing. I felt fantastic on Saturday and it was such a nice feeling to have!

We went to church on Sunday and then to Academy afterwards to buy new cleats for the boy. He was wearing size 3 and we bought him size 5.5!!! He hadn't told us they were tight until after the soccer game and he had blisters on his pinky toes! 

We stopped and treated the kiddos to dipped cones! 

Yesterday, I had a meeting and it ended up being a very rainy day. Tim had interviews after school, so we just tried to have a relaxing evening! We watched a couple of episodes of 19 kids and counting! I love that show and that family!

Today, the kiddos had spring pictures at school!

I had Bible study, my mentor meeting, Tuesday folders, and I have a church event tonight. 

A very busy day!
