My cat, Koonta is going on 10 years old. I got her my second year in college when she was 6 weeks old. I was working at a grocery store and when I left work after my shift, a lady who had been giving away puppies all day was there and trying to give a way a lone cat she had with her. Needless to say, I fell in love with the little bit. I took her home and the rest is history. She's been my girl ever since. Of course, now she belongs to Tim and the kiddos too. She has always been unhealthyish. I have always kept her inside and she has been declawed. She has a history of respiratory infections and blockages in her intestines from her hair.
About a month ago, I took her to see a new vet in Bentonville. I wanted to get her a checkup plus find a new doctor for her in case she started having any issues. They did a workup and bloodwork and found that she is still healthy. She did however, show signs of an infection. I had also been noticing her havinng trouble eating lately. It turns out that the back of her mouth is extremely swollen and irritated. The vet believes that she may have a compacted tooth or two. So, next Monday, Koonta will have to have surgery. I'm pretty nervous about it and sad that she has to go through it. She really does not like going to the vet one bit. Hopefully it will be an easy fix and she will be better in no time.
Poor Koonta!!
